Editorial Policy
Narivaad welcomes submissions in all the below categories. Narivaad is an interdisciplinary feminist magazine that publishes contemporary, innovative and interesting work. The work must be original. However, already published exceptional work can be republished with copyright permission. We do not accept plagiarised work.
We publish content consistent with our aims, perspective, and quality standards. Editorial policy includes peer review by at least two members of the editorial collective. For our perspective and aim, please consult our page About Us.
Narivaad is published in two languages: Urdu and English. The English and Urdu Sections have different contents. However, if any author wants to publish her/his work in both languages, they are welcome to submit two versions.
Categories
Long Essays need to be properly referenced. The rest of the categories are our open spaces for conversations, opinions and commentaries, and documentation.
- Essays – long-form essay 2500-5000 words in length including an abstract of 200-300 words for a list of up to six keywords suitable for indexing, abstracting, captions for artwork, figures and graphics, and by line.
- Blog – Short commentaries/op-eds, columns, essays, photo essays, of 850-1500 words.
- Conversation – up to 2500 words
- Art & Literature – up to 1000-3000 words including creative writings (both poetry and prose), photo essays and illustrations, book reviews, film and drama reviews, photography, drawings, short stories, comics, summary profiles of new works, and others. In addition, brief profiles of worth-reading books and worth-watching movies.
Contributors, who do not wish to send us full manuscripts before submission, may send us a brief description of the article with a short bio, source material of the piece, writing history and experience, and previous publishing, if any.
Submitted manuscripts that cannot be published, will not be used by Narivaad for any other purposes, and will be deleted from our data and records.
